In addition to its photographic and Fine Art paper printing solutions, Picto Online offers direct printing onto rigid media . Your image is printed directly onto the material of your choice, without any paper in between. Slightly less expensive than a mounted print, this high-performance process guarantees you exceptionally durable prints, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, and allows for very large formats up to 205 cm in width.

Direct printing onto rigid substrates is an attractive alternative to mounting: it allows for direct hanging without framing and completely eliminates the need for paper backing. Your prints can therefore be installed in harsh or damp environments — bathrooms, wet rooms, or even outdoors for your outdoor photo exhibitions.

Our rigid printing workshop

Our prints are produced in the Picto Grand Paris workshops using a high-end Swiss Q Print Kudu flatbed printer, a latest-generation UV LED printer with a 3.2 × 2 m format. The inks are cured and fixed by UV LED polymerisation, ensuring excellent durability over time, even in demanding climatic conditions or high humidity.

Available rigid substrates

You can choose from four rigid substrates, each with its own specific characteristics.

Dibond

The go-to substrate remains Dibond, highly prized for its lightness and strength. Comprising a black polyethylene core sandwiched between two aluminium sheets, it is available in white at 2 mm or 3 mm thickness, as well as in a 3 mm brushed aluminium version. The latter makes use of its texture to create a highly original finish: its metallic effect is perfectly suited to architectural photography, urban imagery or graphic and conceptual work. The direction of the brushed finish — horizontal or vertical — is up to you.

PVC

Half the price of Dibond, PVC is available in several thicknesses, from 2 to 5 mm. The print quality is identical, but as this material is less robust, it is better suited to indoor use or occasional applications.

Foam Board

At 10 mm thick, Carton Plume is appealing due to its lightness: even in large formats, wall mounting is made easy by simple metal fasteners or Velcro strips. Its thickness also allows it to be placed on a piece of furniture or a shelf. Classified as M1 (non- flammable), it is particularly suitable for events.

Plexiglass

For a contemporary and luminous finish, opt for printing on Plexiglass . Plexiglass adds depth and contrast to your images, and opens up numerous possibilities for effects thanks to ambient light or backlighting.

Diasec-style Transparent

The Diasec-style transparent finish replicates the effect of a photograph under high-quality acrylic glass: your image is printed under a transparent Plexiglass sheet. A white layer can be added beneath the ink layer to provide a white background for the print.

Backlighting: Transparent and Diffusing double-ink

For backlighting, two options are available in 3 mm. The Double-ink Transparent prints your image under the Plexiglass, without a white background layer, in order to preserve the transparency of the whites. The Double-ink Diffusing option , on the other hand, prints your image onto white diffusing Plexiglass. In both cases, the ink layer is doubled to enhance the contrast.

Transparent and Diffusing Day & Night

The Transparent Day & Night and the Diffusing Day & Night (available in 3 mm) allow for display in both natural light and backlighting, transforming your print into a true luminous work of art at your leisure.
