Whether for an exhibition or simply to hang your photographs on the wall, choosing the right frame is important. As well as providing a suitable mounting system, a frame helps to protect the surface of your print. In this new article, we’ll take you through our range of frames so you can choose the one or ones that best suit your needs and budget.
Our range of frames falls into three main categories: Nielsen frames, shadow boxes and high-end frames, all made entirely to measure.

Nielsen Framing
The PICTO workshop offers a very extensive range of Nielsen frames, from the brand-new Skava, made of wood, right through to bespoke designs at an affordable price. The standardised sizes mean you can enjoy low prices for high-quality framing. You can choose from:
• The latest addition to the PICTO range,
the Skava
, a frame made entirely of wood for a warm, traditional look, sourced from sustainably managed European forests. It is available in three colours (white, black or oak) and four sizes (30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm, 50 x 60 cm and 60 x 80 cm).

The Alu C2
: understated and minimalist, this aluminium frame is available in three colours (white, black and brushed aluminium) and four sizes (30 x 40 cm, 40 x 50 cm, 50 x 60 cm and 60 x 80 cm).
• Available for several years now,
the Alpha
offers a premium range, with solid frames in matt black anodised aluminium or genuine wood veneer (oak or wenge). It is available in a wide range of sizes, from 18 x 24 cm to 70 x 100 cm.
• One of our latest additions: the
bespoke Nielsen frame,
which allows you to produce fully customised frames at a lower cost, with a very wide choice of profiles, materials, colours and sizes. With this product, you can even choose a frame without glass!

➤ The shadow box frame, from standard sizes to bespoke
Print framed in a shadow box in any size
This is the type of framing favoured by galleries and museums: the shadow box frame perfectly showcases your print. This frame consists of a print mounted onto an aluminium plate, positioned at the centre of a frame made from wooden mouldings. As the print is set back from the back and the edges, the artwork appears to float freely, giving the whole piece a unique style and an original sense of depth.
There are 18 standard sizes, divided into 4 different aspect ratios, ranging from square to 4:3, allowing you to benefit from more affordable prices; however, you also have the option to choose a custom size, to specify the dimensions of your choice. You can choose from four colours (black, white, wenge and oak).

➤ Bespoke framing, from art framing to the most innovative designs
Framed print: La Boîte
These high-end frames, crafted in our in-house design studio, allow you to create three types of frames:
• Art framing, for all your artistic projects. The print is laminated onto an aluminium plate to reinforce it, then fitted with a 6 cm bevelled, rounded-corner mat and placed within a wooden frame. It is protected and kept safe from dust behind a sheet of mineral glass. The mat adds a beautiful finish to the whole piece, whilst the wooden frame lends it an air of elegance — an essential feature for collector’s prints.
• The Box, for an exceptional finish. This high-end, made-to-measure framing method positions the print at the back of the frame, behind its protective glass and without a mat, lending the piece a truly refined look and a beautiful sense of depth.
• The Floating Frame, for an original effect. Your print appears to be suspended in the space between the back of the wooden frame and its protective glass.
